Pebeo brand glass markers would be the BEST thing to use http://www.delphiglass.com/oven-fire-pai… You just draw your design on then put the mug in the oven according to the directions and the paint is set.
Folk Art Emanels would work too, http://www.plaidonline.com/apFolkArt.asp… if you want to paint your design with a paintbrush
No matter which you use, make sure you let your friends know not to put them in the microwave or dishwasher to be safe! don't paint the inside of the mug with any paint.

It would be doubtful that just catching a cold would be seen as a deterrent in a horoscope; however, there is a separate branch of Astrology called Medical Astrology. Here are some websites, but you can google "medical astrology" and find more:http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/Medica…http://www.innerself.com/Astrology/medic…http://www.astroheal.com/

One of my favorite birthday presents i've gotten was a sketchbook (i'm into art) that my friend covered in photos and pictures cut out from magazines. I thought it was really simple but shows she put time, thought and effort into the present and the sketchbook made me feel like she knew me.
I guess you could do something similar for her?
Like, if she's into music or movies you could do it with a cd or dvd folder, and if she likes reading you could do a bookmark. Its pretty simple, but i really liked mine.
Other ideas are:
- Homemade jewelery: you can usually find cheap kits at junk shops for earrings, necklaces, bracelets and sometimes even rings
- Homemade body lotion: You buy a simple, basic moisturizer that isn't Fragrances, add essential oils and whatever else you want and put it in a pretty jar that you either bought or decorated yourself
- Homemade bath bombs: you can find recipes on the internet, they're basically bi carb soda with some other stuff thrown in
- Friendship bracelet: Its kinda silly and childish, but i still wear one my friend gave me a year ago (and I'm 18)
And you're a really nice friend for wanting to do something personal, a lot of people give gift cards or soap, which i think says they don't care.
Hope this helps and good luck!!
